Since 1 October 2026, trucks over 3.5 t pay for Romanian roads per kilometre through TollRo. What that costs on a real trip depends on the route: how many kilometres run on motorways and how many on national roads. So we calculated TollRo on five common routes with RouteCalc, on the actual route.
All calculations are for a 40 t truck, EURO VI, made on 1 October 2026 with the official tariffs, in both route options: Fast and Economical. Amounts excl. VAT are what goes into your quote; amounts incl. VAT are what you pay.

What the numbers show
- The TollRo gap between the options is large: from 43.82 RON on Borș → București to 114.68 RON on Constanța → Timișoara, for a single trip (excl. VAT).
- Economical pays less TollRo but costs time: it is 33 to 122 km longer and takes 3 to 5 hours more.
- There is no average price per kilometre: over the same distance, TollRo varies a lot with the route. A “km × average rate” estimate can miss your quote by tens of RON per trip.

The figures above are for 40 t and EURO VI. Other categories differ: EURO V–IV trucks pay about 15% more per km, EURO III–0 about 30% more. The tariffs for every category are in the TollRo calculator 2026 (Romanian).

- Routes calculated with RouteCalc on 1 October 2026, between town centres (Borș: the border crossing).
- 40 t articulated truck, EURO VI, general cargo.
- TollRo tariffs per Order of the Minister of Transport No. 1,925/2025 (Monitorul Oficial No. 940 of 10 October 2025). Amounts excl. VAT = official tariff divided by 1.21.
- Time is the estimated driving time, without the driver’s mandatory breaks.
