TollRo from 1 October: pay per route, not per period

From 1 October, TollRo replaces the vignette for trucks over 3.5 t. Payment is per route, not per period.

At the start, this will be handled by the team — not by an onboard unit.

There are two practical options from day one.

1. Route ticket

Bought before the truck leaves, for a declared trip. This is the manual process most dispatch teams will use first.

2. CNAIR eTarife app

The free official app, available for vehicles registered in Romania. Still a manual payment, just digital.

Automatic European payment through SETRE is scheduled for 15 January 2027. Until then, someone still has to buy the route.

For trucks over 3.5 t, an existing vignette stops being valid on 1 October. The unused period is not refunded automatically. You need a written request to CNAIR.

What should not stay manual is the cost

TollRo calculation is already available in RouteCalc.

You can calculate domestic RO routes, international routes, or routes that only transit Romania — one by one, or up to 1,500 routes at once from Excel after signup — before the ticket is bought.

RouteCalc returns TollRo as route cost on the Romanian kilometres, together with the rest of the corridor. It is not an official CNAIR ticket, and it does not buy the route for you. For per-km rates and how the number is built, see TollRo Romania 2026: calculate by route and methodology.
