Instead of one national weekend ban, the Directorate-General for Traffic publishes each year the road sections, days and hours on which vehicles over 7.5 t may not drive (for 2026: resolution of 14 January 2026). The Basque Country publishes its own restrictions.

Spanish motorways use three groups: Ligeros, Pesados 1 and Pesados 2. Pesados 2 covers trucks and coaches with or without trailer with four or more axles in total, which includes a 40 t articulated truck.
