| Emission class | Centimes per tonne-km | CHF per km at 40 t |
|---|---|---|
| Euro 6 | 2.39 | 0.956 |
| Euro 0 to Euro 5 | 3.26 | 1.304 |
Official FOCBS rates, in force since 1 January 2025 and unchanged in 2026. The customs office’s own example: 40 t × 100 km × 2.39 centimes = CHF 95.60. The fee is charged in Swiss francs; RouteCalc converts it into euros at a current exchange rate, so the euro amount moves with the franc.
The rates did not change. From 1 January 2026 the fee is recorded only with the new generation of devices (LSVA III), from Swiss or EETS providers.
| Route (truck: 40 t articulated truck, 5 axles, Euro 6, CO₂ class 1) | Distance | Tolled km | Toll excl. VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basel → Zürich, motorway | 88.1 km | 88.1 km | €90.25 |
| Bern → Luzern, economical route | 93.2 km | 93.2 km | €95.48 |
Calculated with RouteCalc on 3 October 2026. In francs: 88.1 km × CHF 0.956 = CHF 84.22 and 93.2 km × CHF 0.956 = CHF 89.10. Every kilometre is charged, so the economical route saves nothing on the fee — only a shorter route does.
Heavy goods vehicles may not drive at night from 22:00 to 05:00, nor on Sundays and on the federal public holidays (New Year, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Ascension, Whit Monday, 1 August, Christmas and 26 December). The weight limit is 40 t, or 44 t in unaccompanied combined transport.

A Euro 6 truck pays 2.39 centimes (Rappen) per tonne-kilometre. At 40 t that is 40 × 2.39 = 95.6 centimes, so CHF 0.956 per km. Euro 0 to Euro 5 trucks pay 3.26 centimes per tonne-km, CHF 1.304 per km at 40 t.
All of them. The fee is charged on every kilometre driven in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, on motorways, main roads and local roads alike, so there is no toll-free detour.
Not in 2026. Zero-emission trucks are exempt, according to the customs office probably until the end of 2028. Since 1 October 2025 they must still record the kilometres they drive.
